The apprenticeship model of practice-based learning needs to be expanded beyond the trades occupations. In an era of rapid technological change, it's no longer exclusively mastering a skill and transmitting know-how and knowledge to the apprentice. Now, apprentices bring new tools and processes to the table where peer-to-peer learning is more valuable than the master-apprentice "top-down" model of historical craft guilds.
