I no longer believe that Everett Roger's "Diffusion of Innovation Theory" still holds as much weight as it did when it was first introduced in the early 1960s. Maybe it's high time to propose a new framework which integrates elements of the Gartner Hype Cycle and other tech maturity models. The rise (and crash) of NFTs seems to me an interesting case study.
